Visitors can get a real idea of what it was like to be in historical buildings in the middle-ages. In various videos and audio clips xpedeo tells exciting details about the life of knights and lords in those times: how they slept, celebrated and hunted. Insight is also given into the lives of the common people such as the farmers and craftsmen. All in German, English and Dutch.
We replaced the previously non-functional system from another supplier and used an already existing WIFI infrastructure to provide a precise indoor positioning system for visitors. Navigation is made simple with clear floor plans located around the whole site.
The Burg Altena is one of the most beautiful hilltop castles in Germany. It is internationally known for having the world’s first permanent youth hostel. This hostel was founded in the historical walls of the castle in 1914 and can be seen in its original state as part of the museum today.
“The multimedia guide offers a new dimension of discovery to our visitors. Individual tours through the Burg Altena Museum are now available in German, English and Dutch. Film scenes, computer animation and audio-clips enhance the information on offer in both an entertaining and educational way. Thanks to WiFi positioning and simple menu layouts the devices are very easy to operate. The added value which is consistently commented on by our visitors, is significant”.
