Since september our mediaguides explain the UNESCO World Heritage for visitors in four differnet languages. The Porta Nigra is a view back in the roman history. The then existing city gate and today’s landmark of Trier was completed in 180 after Christ. Visitors experience reconstructions of the Porty Nigra and also 3D Videos deliver a view in the past:

The city gate was extended in the 11th century. Within the next centuries it supported the masonry of a church next to the city gate as column. In the beginning oft he 19th century the church was removed upon the order of Napoleon, whereas the old city gate maintained.

As a technical feature the visitors could choose , whether they want to borrow a mediaguide locally or experience the guided tour on their own smartphones. Per open WLAN sources visitors can use the website, which shows identical content.
