Xpedeo has been in use at the Landesmuseum Hannover since 2007 and has guided visitors through over a dozen exhibitions since then. Initially on PDAs, later on smartphone-based rental devices and now as a web app on the visitor's own device. The museum's creative team is always coming up with exciting applications: for example, there has already been an atmospheric guided tour or an individual catalogue to print out.

WeltenMuseum as a WebApp - virtual from home

We were also able to realise the current media guide for the museum. The new solution inspires with 360-degree panoramas and allows insights into new special exhibitions such as the "Cinemosaurs".

In addition to the tried and tested loan devices, the mobile solution is now also available as a web app: So anyone who fancies a stroll around the museum can now experience it virtually. 360° panoramas of the rooms bring the collection to your own device in miniature format and conjure up a very personalised experience. In addition, there are complementary audio clips paired with images and graphics for selected objects.

The museum

The Landesmuseum Hanover, with its impressive collections of archaeology, natural history, ethnology and the Landsgalerie, is one of the oldest civic museums and one of the largest of its kind.

It was founded in 1852 as a museum of art and science and offers a wide range of natural, artistic and cultural history, from dinosaur finds to live animals in the vivarium, from the early cultures of Lower Saxony to German Impressionism.

Exhibition archive

Where do the inhabitants of Lower Saxony actually come from? Around 8 million people live in this federal state today and not all of them have moved here. These and other questions were explored by the Landesmuseum Hannover in co-operation with the Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum.

In this special exhibition, xpedeo was also able to take visitors on a journey of discovery through history. There was always something new to discover. With the continued help of additor, revising and adding to the content was and is no problem.

Special exhibition Saxones

For the special exhibition "Treasure Keeper. 200 Years of the Hanover Monastery Chamber", which opened on 20 April 2018, we were responsible for the complete graphic design of the new guided tour as well as the conception, design and implementation of two mini-games. The globally unique treasure of Lower Saxony's monasteries can now be admired in multimedia form!
