Surrounded by forest and heathland lies a 100-year-old industrial monument: the Knappenrode energy factory. It is now being brought back to life - partly analogue, partly digital. Since October 2020, the newly created permanent exhibition has combined history with modernity. For the first time, an exhibition will show the development of the old Lusatian mining district from its pre-industrial beginnings to a future-oriented holiday and energy region.

2020

A total of 30 of our xpedeo multimedia guides and the web app developed by us support visitors on their journey through time by allowing them to immerse themselves in life and work in Lusatia at the time with all their senses using historical film and photo recordings and exciting contributions.

On their multimedia tour, visitors follow the path of coal back then: from delivery to the various processing steps to the finished briquette. Our mobile solution is the window into the past, present and future with the spectacular "Lausitzblick" view from the roof of the factory.

The media guide is available in German, English and Sorbian. The museum is currently partially barrier-free, but plans to make it fully accessible in the long term. However, tours in easy language or audio description are already being implemented.

Museum staff can update, correct and, if necessary, expand the tours themselves using our additor content management system.
